Deirdre “Little Darling” Franklin is the founder, president, and soul behind Pinups for Pitbulls. She holds a master’s degree in public policy from Drexel University, where she specialized in breed-specific legislation.

Breed Specific Legislature enforcement versus public safety education: 

The amount of money that it would cost you to educate a community versus what it cost them to police them is astronomical, it costs so much less to educate. If we focus on children in the second and third grade, for example, we can really help them get educated on how to interact with dogs, even if they don’t live with dogs in their own household. We also want to make sure that people who don’t live with dogs as adults know how to interact with dogs So at the end of the day, you can, you know, don’t legislate, educate. You know, you’re not going to help the problem by banning dogs or restricting dogs too, you know, not leave their property or wear a muzzle, all that’s just going to end up backfiring. So it’s always better to educate than to legislate.
