I come from a family of biologists. My dad is a biologist and in fact an animal behaviorist. Very early on I knew that I was going to be an animal behaviorist and so I went to college for a biology degree. I’ve got Ph.D. in Biology specifically in animal behavior. I’ve been at the University of Washington since 1990, and so I am a college professor at UW recently retired.

Who is Dr. James C. Ha?

James Ha is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, expert witness, and lecturer with years of experience working with dogs, cats, and parrots. Dr. Ha is an animal behaviorist, and he teaches classes on the subject for UW’s Certificate in Applied Animal Behavior (he runs the program with his wife, Dr. Renee Ha, who also happens to be an animal behaviorist). As a research professor in the Department of Psychology, he has studied primates, crows, killer whales, and, most recently, companion animals such as dogs and cats.
